Yakkety Yak” is the code name for Ubuntu 16.10, scheduled for release October 2016. Yes, we’re talking about Ubuntu 16.10, which has been dubbed “Yakkety Yak” by Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth on the day the company launched their sixth LTS (Long Term Support) release, Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus).

Nathan Haines reports that Ubuntu 16.10 Free Culture Showcase is now closed, and a total of 189 stunning images were submitted by various photographers and digital artists from all over the world. However, only 12 are the lucky ones to be selected by community members for inclusion in Ubuntu 16.10.

In the order of appearance, the new default Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) wallpapers are Wanaka Tree by Stephane Pakula, Classic Guitar Detail by Sten Jørgen Pettersen, Yala Mountain by Geza Radics, Larung Gar by Night by Geza Radics, Alien Wing by Ralph Crützen, and Haukland Beach View by Michele Agostini.

Moreover, there’s Ubuntu Wallpaper 16.10.02 by screen_name_007 and Ubuntu 16.10 by Khoir Rudin, and the last four images have not yet been named, but they’re submitted by Ferran Reyes, Todor Velichkov, as well as Jobin Babu. Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) launches October 13, 2022

In only one week from the moment of writing this story, on October 13, 2016, Canonical will officially launch the final release of the Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) operating system, which promises to use the new Linux 4.8 kernel, latest open source software applications and the most modern GNU/Linux technologies.
