Because it is available via PPA, installing Wine 1.9.7 on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus, Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS) and Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Elementary OS 0.2 and Elementary OS 0.3 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the vlc package. Like this:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install –install-recommends wine-staging
sudo apt-get install winehq-staging
to remove, do:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:wine/wine-builds
After install completed, run the command on your ubuntu terminal :
