Numix-Circle is the newest Numix icon theme and it uses circle shaped applications icons.
This is version 14 of it and it comes with about 2150 application icons covered (over 800 more than the previous version) and the biggest change in it is that the baseplate background shape and some of the icons symbols have been completely redone so it feels like a whole new theme. It is a huge improvement over the previous version.

It is GPL licensed and the “code” is hosted at GitHub.

How to Install Numix-Circle Icon Theme Ubuntu / Linux Mint / Elementary OS via PPA :
Because it is available via PPA, installing Numix-Circle Icon Theme on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus, Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 15.04 vivid Vervet, ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr (LTS) and Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Elementary OS 0.2 and Elementary OS 0.3 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the vlc package. Like this:sudo apt-add-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-icon-theme-circle
To remove, do :
sudo apt-get remove numix-icon-theme-circle
