Install wxMaxima 14.09 in Linux Ubuntu, Mint and Debian

wxMaxima is a document based interface for the computer algebra system Maxima. wxMaxima uses wxWidgets and runs natively on Windows, X11 and Mac OS X. wxMaxima provides menus and dialogs for many common maxima commands, autocompletion, inline plots and simple animations. wxMaxima is distributed under the GPL license.

• Windows: wxMaxima 13.04.2 is included with Maxima 5.30.0
• Mac OS X: wxMaxima 13.04.0 is included with Maxima 5.30.0

Because it is available via PPA, installin wxMaxima 14.09.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the wxmaxima package, open terminal and follow this command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:blahota/wxmaxima
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wxmaxima

Optional, to remove wxmaxima, open terminal and follow this command:

sudo apt-get remove wxmaxima
