Geary 0.8 Released, Install in Linux Ubuntu, Mint and Debian Derivative system

The team Yorba announced the release of the new version 0.8.0 of Geary default email client in elementary OS.

Geary is a project developed by the developer of the Yorba team (also known for the development of Shotwell of California), which aims to provide a simple, lightweight e-mail client GTK. By default in elementary OS, Geary can also be used in other Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora, etc., the main features include support for popular email services such as Google Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, etc..
Geary 0.8 as well as various fixes brings with it support for signing, with the new version we will then be automatically included in every email sent our custom signature (feature still in development).

Features Geary 0.8
  •     Modern and straightforward interface
  •     Quick account setup
  •     Supports Gmail, Yahoo! Mail,, and popular IMAP servers (Dovecot, Cyrus, Zimbra, etc.)
  •     Mail organized by conversations
  •     Full-featured HTML mail composer
  •     Fast keyword search
  •     Desktop notification of new mail

With the new Geary 0.8.0 are also several improvements regarding GTKHeaderBar therefore able to provide a better integration in GNOME Shell, etc. Pantheon, the new update also includes a new option that allows us to disable the saving of drafts on the server.
Thanks to the bug fixes and the introduction of some optimizations, Geary 0.8 is much faster and responsive, also note the improvements introduced in the support for the IMAP connection.

  1. currently running elementaryOS Luna, which is built on Ubuntu 12.04. however, Geary is at version 0.4.2+backport despite following the above instructions to add the yorba ppa/upgrade. any ideas on how to get a more up to date version of Geary? (preferably without changing the OS!)
